YA Scavenger Hunt (Team Gold)

THE YA SCAVENGER HUNT IS NOW OVER (but with the author's approval, the exclusive bonus content from Sharon Huss Roat will remain below, so you can still check it out!)

Welcome to my little corner of the YA Scavenger Hunt! This biannual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors...and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize--one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours! (Please note: the YA Scavenger Hunt officially starts on April 4th at noon, Pacific Time. My post is up early!)

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are five contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GOLD TEAM--but there is also a red team, a pink team, a blue team, and a purple team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!

If you'd like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

Directions: Below, you'll notice that I've hidden my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the gold team, and then add them up (calculators are allowed!).

Entry Form: Once you've added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian's permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by April 9th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

And now for the really good stuff...

Today, I am hosting Sharon Huss Roat on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt! Sharon Huss Roat grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and now lives in Delaware with her husband and two children. She worked in public relations/communications for twenty years before pursuing her dream of writing a novel. She is the author of BETWEEN THE NOTES (June 2015) and HOW TO DISAPPEAR (August 2017), both from HarperTeen. When not writing, she can usually be found reading, gardening, or cooking. Also napping. (Naps are key.) Visit her on Twitter @sharonwrote or Instagram @sharonhussroat.

Find out more information by checking out her author website or find more about her book (and pre-order it) here!

HOW TO DISAPPEAR by Sharon Huss Roat

From the author of Between the Notes comes a story that shines a light on our love of social media and how sometimes being the person you think you want to be isn’t as great as being the person you truly are.

Vicky Decker’s social anxiety has helped her master the art of hiding in plain sight, appearing only to her best friend, Jenna. But when Jenna moves away, Vicky’s isolation becomes unbearable. So she decides to invent a social life by Photoshopping herself into other people’s pictures and posting them on Instagram under the screen name Vicurious.

Instantly, she begins to get followers, and soon, Vicky has made a whole new life for herself without ever leaving her bedroom. But the more followers she amasses online, the clearer it becomes that there are a lot of people out there who feel like her—#alone and #ignored in real life. To help them, and herself, she must stop living vicariously and start bringing the magic of Vicurious back to life.

From Sharon Huss Roat: HOW TO DISAPPEAR doesn’t come out until August, so I thought it might be fun to share five of my favorite quotes to give a sense of the main character, Vicky, and what the book is about. Since social media plays a big role in this story, I’ve presented the quotes in an Instagram-style graphic, featuring the main character’s user name, Vicurious.

And don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of books by me, Sharon Huss Roat, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 27. (Okay, so it's not really my favorite number but it sounded good. Seriously, do people really have favorite numbers?) Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the gold team and you'll have the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

To keep going on your quest for the hunt, you need to check out the next author, Robert L. Slater!

And as a little thank you for stopping by, I'm giving away an additional signed copy of RESURRECTING SUNSHINE plus swag! (U.S. only for this one!)
